Growing up, I went to a small (very small) Montessori school, where everyone knew everyones business. Yes, including when we started wearing a bra and probably even bra size when the time came to buy one. It was inevitable. I’ve always been pretty tiny so for me I really didn’t need one until high school. But of course, thirteen year old me, was begging my mom for one until she cracked because “all of my friends are wearing them!!!!” My go-to store in the mall was always Limited Too and if any of you shopped there, you remember that towards the back of the store they had a glorious wall with their socks, underwear, and the bras! You better believe I had my eye on those silky, soft, beautiful, training bras. It felt like Christmas morning when I finally had one of my own.
Flash forward, however many years and here I am today. Putting on a real bra for the first time in what feels like forever. It’s so funny to look back on how eager I was to wear one and now I can’t even remember the last time I wore anything other than a sports bra or most recently a nursing bra. Maybe it was because I never felt like I had the right one? This is embarrassing to admit but up until a couple of years ago I didn’t even know getting fitted for a bra was a thing. I didn’t know what “32” or “A” meant on the tag. I just grabbed ones that looked nice, tried them on, and bought them. Which resulted in straps constantly falling off of my shoulders (so annoying), the cups being too loose on the top so it totally showed through my shirt, or that awful side fat that pours out the sides which also shows through your shirt. Did you guys know why there are three hooks on the band of the bra? I had no idea that the band should be snug on the loosest hook to start so that as your bra stretches out you can continue to tighten it. Such a simple concept and I honestly had no clue. I’m twenty-six years old and totally clueless when it comes to wearing a bra.
If it weren’t for my partnership with ThirdLove, I probably never would have put on a real bra again. Now that I’m a mom with a million things on my to-do list daily, I can tell you right now that getting everyone dressed, buckled into their seats and surviving a mall trip with a toddler and soon to be newborn, to get fitted for a bra is not on it. But ThirdLove makes things easy! I downloaded their app onto my phone and followed their instructions for getting fitted. It took less than two minutes and all I had to do was stand in front of a mirror in my own freaking home! I barely had to get out of bed to get fitted for these bras and they’re absolutely perfect. And! You can try their best-selling styles for free for 30 days. I’ve been wearing mine now for over a month and every complaint I listed above is non existent which is a win in my book.
